The fifth Tadworth CC charity day in aid of The Children's Trust proved to be a roaring success, with 6 teams competing for the Dave Barrow Cup. Whilst the weather was not as good as it has been in the past, a steady stream of spectators attended the event, helping us to raise money for the Trust through a variety of activities including:
• A cake stand donated by Club members
• A Pimms bar sponsored by Kennedys'
• A cocktail bar sponsored by the Colt's parents
• A barbecue sponsored by Chapman & Sons Butchers, and
• A raffle sponsored by the Walton Practice, for multiple prizes donated by local businesses.
After a generous top up by Tadworth Cricket Club, the amount raised for the Trust was £2,000 which now means that Tadworth has raised almost £12,000 for the Trust through this annual charity event.
The cricket was highly competitive with the Young Guns, led by Barnaby Harrison and comprising a number of the up-and-coming stars of the Colts section, being the early favourites. However, in the end a strong side from the Children's Trust, led by Alice Stroud, finished the day unbeaten and were deserving winners of the trophy. The Children's Trust are already planning their defence of the cup in 2024.
Our thanks go to everyone who has supported the event this year, sponsors, volunteers, players and spectators, and we're looking forward to the return of sunshine for next year's event.
Our sponsors this year include The Children's Trust, The Walton Practice, and Chapman & Son.
