It is with regret we inform Tadworth Cricket Club members and friends of the death of one our Life Members Jack Ball.
Jack was a long-standing, committed member of Tadworth Cricket Club..
and not only did he carry on playing in to his 70’s but he fulfilled many positions on the committee to sustain a cricket club in the village.
Jack played a key role in the building of the club house (after a fire in the old wooden pavilion ) and the digging of the trench (with others) from the Dorking Road to the pavilion to bring electricity to the pavilion.
He will be missed by all those that knew him

“Not just a pretty face !” Here Jack Ball keeps score during the Coldharbour Cricket Club match.
In 1996 Jack had a superb season. He amassed a total of over 400 runs (442), captured 6 scalps at an economy rate of 5.53 runs an over and kept wicket on several occasions taking 6 catches and 2 stumpings. In fact in his sixth but sadly final year as Club Secretary there wasn’t much that Jack didn’t contribute to both on and off the field during 1996. Apart from his two superb half centuries this season the catch taken while keeping at Coldharbour when diving full length to his right will always be remembered as one of the seasons classic catches.
A sad time for all who new Jack.

Dear Members and Friends of Tadworth Cricket Club
After a year that will live in all of our memories, the Festive season is upon us.
As a Club Committee we want to wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season.
Cricket in 2020 was somewhat curtailed but following the decision to open up cricket to junior members Mark Anthony led the charge to get outdoor practice started in early July. With help from Mike W-K, Sid, Neil, Ed, Kris Anthony, Rachael Carvill and Craig.
The first few weeks defined the COVID secure protocols that were maintained throughout the season and 1:1’s were followed by group coaching and subsequently matches where all age groups won at least one match. It was a remarkable effort from Mark A and the team, and the success was demonstrated by the fact that even at the end of Aug we ran sessions with over 40 children, aged 5 -13, present.
Senior Cricket
From July, Senior cricket was played on both Saturdays and Sundays. There were no league matches (Surrey Downs League played as friendlies) but all Senior games were played in a competitive spirit and whilst there were many differences in the match day protocols we got the games on safely and for the enjoyment of members.
Thanks to Majid, we even managed to get 3 Saturday XI’s on 2 consecutive weeks which maximised the amount of cricket played despite the shortened season.
Thanks to the grounds team too who showed great flexibility to get cricket played.
Cambridge Tour
We even held a successful 2 match tour to Cambridge with a mixture of youth and experience on the field of play, A good time was had by all. We would like to place our thanks on record to all players, officials and supporters that contributed this most unprecedented of seasons.
Thankyou
The membership pulled together both on and off the field and we were able to get Saturday and Sunday fixtures fulfilled to the middle of September – THANK YOU
#2021
The start of 2021 remains uncertain but we are planning for cricket to start towards the end of April as usual. Winter practice has been booked at Epsom College for the junior and senior sections.
We will review the COVID guidelines from Surrey cricket early in the New Year to see if we can start training sessions on Sunday 10th Jan. We hope to have senior practice too but that is currently restricted by existing COVID guidance. We will keep you all informed.
Stay Safe and Well Everyone. We wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2021 and here’s to more cricket next year

To all our Tadworth Cricket Club (TCC) Members, Family & Friends
We hope you are all well and looking forward to cricket matches starting again
I’m sure you all understand that your safety is the TCC Committees priority, and our goal is to continue to adhere to the government and ECB guidelines. We have reinforced the social distancing measures and procedures that our members have been applying during practice and we now ask all members, friends and visitors to follow these practices in order for us to play cricket safely and to allow us open the bar facilities.
Please continue to check our website for further Club updates.
The committee are reviewing the additional club subscription requirements now that cricket can start and we will communicate those this week.
We hope to see as many of our members and friends as possible over the next few weeks supporting our fantastic club and celebrating the return of cricket at Tadworth.
We will keep you all informed with any future activities at the club.
Thank you all for your continued support.

Dear Tadworth CC Members
TCC Committee hope that this note finds you and your families all well.
Your committee have continued to work behind the scenes to keep Tadworth Cricket Club ticking along. Some notable updates include:
On the cricket front, you may have seen that the government stated that cricket matches could not yet be permitted as the ball is a vector of the disease!!
ECB are still in talks with the government and this will influence when matches can start. When they do start we may have to play short form games (eg less overs , fewer players) but we hope that will be clear in the next couple of weeks. Some leagues in Surrey are preparing to start play from 25 July but that is in anticipation of further agreement with government.
We will keep you informed but as a committee. We hope to maximise cricket in Aug and first half of Sept. We HOPE that all of you will be ready to play
In the meantime, stay well and look forward to seeing you all soon. Best wishes
Craig Stevenson – Chairman
On behalf of TCC Committee

Tadworth Cricket Club Member Update (13 May 2020)
We hope everyone associated with Tadworth Cricket Club are well and surviving the challenges that Covid19 has presented to us all. We all know key workers and we want to put on record our thanks to all of them – amazing people
On the cricket front, Tadworth Cricket Club remain committed to following government and ECB guidance and, at this time, recreational cricket including practice remains suspended. As a committee we are actively monitoring the situation and will respond to changes in guidance as we receive them. If cricket of any kind is permitted we will need some volunteers to help get the club ready so that we can follow safety guidance and maintain social distancing requirements. Member safety will be our highest priority . For your information, preparation of the square is underway and the outfield is being cut twice a month. Cricket should be able to start with a couple of weeks notice
Financially 2020 is going to be difficult.
Without any cricket we project a loss of 3-4 K. This can be reduced if cricket can be played and if restrictions allow we will aim to have some social events to raise funds for Tadworth Cricket Club.
If you have not yet paid your social membership it is not too late to do so. The 25 pounds will help to manage our outgoings .
We have been promised a grant of 1300 pounds by Sport England – we are grateful for this contribution and it will contribute towards payment of our insurance and utilities. It is likely we will use some of the clubs reserves this year and so the solid fiscal position of the last 2 years is helping us through the lockdown.
We are planning a virtual general knowledge quiz on the May 25th Bank Holiday starting at 8pm . This is an opportunity for a bit of social engagement with friends at TCC and will be hosted by Mike W-K . We look forward to you joining
Until such time that we can start the season we wish you good health. Stay well

The health and safety of everyone involved in cricket is the ECB’s and Tadworth Cricket Club’s top priority.
ECB Coronavirus/COVID-19 announcements and updates
A Letter to all Our Supporters and Members and You from The Tadworth Cricket Club Chairman and Committee (published today 22 March 2020)
Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Tadworth CC – Note to Members:
Dear Member,
We write in the hope that all of our members are in good health in these unprecedented times. Our thoughts are with any of you in self-isolation or those with symptoms of the virus.
As you will, no doubt, be aware, cricket is not immune from the impact of the pandemic and our governing body, the ECB, have issued a statement saying that all recreational cricket has been suspended until further notice.
Tadworth Cricket Club will fully comply with the ECB statement and Government advice concerning social distancing. Our overriding priority will be the health of our members, oppositions and guests. All pre-season nets are cancelled and matches have been cancelled for the foreseeable future in line with policies of the leagues we are affiliated to
The club’s committee are discussing measures which we believe will keep the club viable beyond 2020 but will also put us in the best possible position to continue our cricket activities as soon as it is safe to do so.
There will no doubt be financial implications for us as a club and certainly there is the likelihood of a considerable reduction in income. We will do all we can to reduce expenditure over the coming weeks and after a strong couple of years we believe that our finances are robust enough to cope with a reduction in income. Having said that, essential pre-season operations on the ground and pavilion will need to continue in preparation for what we all hope will be a resumption of cricketing activities
What do we need from all of you?
Subscriptions
Firstly, we are proposing to suspend the subscriptions agreed by the AGM for 2020 until we know when cricket will resume. With no way of knowing the shape that our season will take, we have decided to ask all members to pay the social membership fee of 25 pounds. This will apply to all senior members and each junior member that were planning to join TCC in April/May. Once cricket is being played the committee will have recommendations on how to assign membership costs in a fair and equitable manner.
This approach will ensure that we initiate income for 2020 and allow us to pay for our regular outgoings like early season grounds maintenance and all pavilion utilities (electric, water, sewage collection, internet provision).
We recognise that these are challenging times for all of us who work but we hope that you see this as a reasonable sum to pay to ensure we can keep TCC viable. Please support your club in these unprecedented times
You can pay your subs on line with payment to Tadworth CC using the following account number (30185981) and sort code (20-29-90). Please use your family name and subs (eg Stokes/Subs) as the reference
Community contribution
The pandemic has already had an effect in all areas of society and we want to retain our position as an important cog in the wheels of the Tadworth and Walton Communities.
The club committee will continue to keep members informed of further developments by email and/or using our social media platforms. In the meantime, we ask that you all follow official guidance on social isolation. Please stay safe and healthy and remember to look out for those elderly club members and those most vulnerable in our local communities
We look forward to welcoming everybody back to the club as soon as possible.

Craig, Bruce, Mike, Majid, Simon, Chris, Mark + Our Club Welfare Officers Paul, Rachael
