“Practise makes Club perfect”

Practise at Tadworth Cricket Club
Practise and training return for Tadworth Cricket Club – Juniors (June 2020)

Dear Tadworth CC Members

TCC Committee hope that this note finds you and your families all well.

Your committee have continued to work behind the scenes to keep Tadworth Cricket Club ticking along. Some notable updates include:

Season Ready
  1. Simon H was able to secure some very good quality second hand furniture for the club house and much of the old furniture has gone. This was the second item that was highlighted by you , our members, as a priority for investment and thanks to Simon we achieved this in a cost effective way. We hope you like it.
  2. Over the last 3 weeks we have seen cricket at Mill Road with close to 50, 1:1 sessions and a couple of small group coaching sessions delivered to our junior members. Tadworth Cricket Club committee express their thanks to Mark Anthony, Mike W-K, Craig and Sid Hussein who are giving their time voluntarily to lead some impressive sessions sessions.

The senior members are back training too, with 2 one hour sessions for a max of 6 people being run Sundays and Wednesdays. These sessions have been popular and as social distancing rules relax we hope to accommodate more members
  3. Thanks to everyone who has paid their 25 pounds social membership. This has been a critical lifeline for Tadworth Cricket Club to help us manage our fixed costs. We continue to actively manage our financial situation and as part of COVID grants have been made available from a variety of sources. We secured 1300 pounds from Sport England and have submitted a further grant application to ECB to help us cover other fixed /grounds costs.

We do project a loss for the season, even with the good will of all of you, so if (when) we do get back to the club later this season we will be looking to do a couple of social fund raisers

On the cricket front, you may have seen that the government stated that cricket matches could not yet be permitted as the ball is a vector of the disease!!

ECB are still in talks with the government and this will influence when matches can start. When they do start we may have to play short form games (eg less overs , fewer players) but we hope that will be clear in the next couple of weeks. Some leagues in Surrey are preparing to start play from 25 July but that is in anticipation of further agreement with government.

We will keep you informed but as a committee. We hope to maximise cricket in Aug and first half of Sept. We HOPE that all of you will be ready to play

In the meantime, stay well and look forward to seeing you all soon. Best wishes

Craig Stevenson – Chairman
On behalf of TCC Committee
